DPWH MIMAROPA Region Excels at 126th DPWH Anniversary Sportsfest

The DPWH MIMAROPA Region showcased an impressive performance at the 126th DPWH Anniversary Sportsfest and Activities. The DPWH MIMAROPA Region showcased an impressive performance at the 126th DPWH Anniversary Sportsfest and Activities. The region’s employees and personnel demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork, led by Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, and Assistant Regional Director Gene Ryan A. Altea.

At the closing ceremony on June 21, 2024, held at the DPWH Central Office and attended by DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan and ARD Altea, various achievements were celebrated. Among those honored was Engr. Kevin E. Garcia, who was recognized for his exceptional talent as the first-ever 2024 National Engineers’ Olympiad Champion.

The DPWH MIMAROPA Table Tennis team, managed by Construction Division Chief Dominic G. Serrano, clinched the championship title. Additionally, the region’s Chess and Men’s Volleyball teams secured 1st runner-up positions, while the Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Basketball, and e-Sports teams each achieved 2nd place finishes.

Several individuals from the region received special awards for their outstanding performances. In Women’s Volleyball, Aprilyn P. Sayang was named Season’s MVP, with Angielyn Francisco and Shairalyn F. Foja earning 1st and 2nd Best Middle Blocker honors, respectively. In Men’s Volleyball, Jay Louie Galabayo was recognized as Best Open Spiker, Renier B. De Luz as 1st Best Middle Blocker, Philip Christian M. Cudal as Best Opposite Spiker, and Harold T. Montilla as Best Libero. Tyrone S. Dela Cruz was named to the Men’s Basketball Mythical Five.

Overall, the DPWH MIMAROPA Region secured a strong 2nd place finish in the tournament. The event was marked by camaraderie, sportsmanship, discipline, and a sense of shared purpose, highlighting the unity and admirable teamwork within the region.
