The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has received high marks for trust and performance in the latest Tugon ng Masa Survey conducted by OCTA Research, indicating positive public sentiment towards the agency. DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan expressed his gratitude for these results and promised to sustain the momentum in the coming months.

The survey, conducted from March 11 to 14, 2024, involved face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents across the country. It ranked DPWH 5th among the top-performing government agencies, with a trust rating of 71 percent. This score reflects varying levels of trust across regions: 58 percent in the National Capital Region (NCR), 67 percent in Balance Luzon, 71 percent in the Visayas, and a high 85 percent in Mindanao.

Similarly, DPWH also ranked 5th in terms of performance, with an overall rating of 72 percent. Again, this varied by region, with 59 percent satisfaction in NCR, 68 percent in Balance Luzon, 79 percent in the Visayas, and 80 percent in Mindanao.

Secretary Bonoan attributed this positive outcome to the hard work and dedication of DPWH staff, thanking them for their efforts. He also extended gratitude to the public for their confidence in the agency and vowed to uphold the vision of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos’ “Bagong Pilipinas.” The agency’s goal is to continue improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for the Filipino people.

Despite operational and budgetary challenges earlier in the year, DPWH has exceeded expectations, which Bonoan credits to the resilience and determination of the department’s personnel. This ongoing public trust signifies that the agency’s work is positively impacting the community and that they are committed to maintaining this level of excellence.

OCTA Research’s Tugon ng Masa Survey is an independent poll that evaluates trust and performance among 22 government agencies, offering insights into public perceptions of their effectiveness.
