I would recommend wearing comfortable clothes and sturdy footwear as some areas can be slippery and difficult to navigate. A helmet and proper safety gear are also a must when entering the cave.

Traveling is not always about going to beautiful places. I think learning about the history of a destination can add meaning to a trip. And that’s why the Cagayan Museum is another place I’d put on a Tuguegarao itinerary.

The museum provides an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the history and culture of Cagayan. It displays historical artifacts, archeological materials and items related to the cultural heritage of the region.

The museum also features exhibits about different indigenous communities, providing visitors with a greater awareness of the people and traditions that have shaped the region.

Travelers can also enjoy some quiet time outside the building in the surrounding garden. This makes for a nice place for me to slow down after exploring the city.

4. FCI Citimall

If you’re a traveler looking for a break from sightseeing, FCI Citimall is a more relaxed experience. It’s a convenient place to shop, eat and hang out like a local.

There are a few familiar Filipino shops and establishments in the mall, which makes it a practical stop for visitors who want to grab a meal or do some casual shopping.

I also believe that a simple visit to a local shopping center can be a way to experience the everyday side of a destination. Instead of spending an entire trip on the big attractions, stopping by where the locals eat, shop and spend their free time can give travelers a different perspective of the city.

My Take on Exploring Tuguegarao

I like Tuguegarao because you can have different experiences in one destination.” You can visit a historic place of worship, see the natural structures inside a cave, get to know the heritage of Cagayan and rest at a local mall.

The city is also known for its hot weather so visitors should be ready for the heat, especially if they are going to be spending a lot of time outdoors. Sightseeing is much more enjoyable with lots of water, comfortable clothing and frequent stops.

As a travel writer, I know that the best trips aren’t always about visiting the most famous places. Sometimes, finding places that show the history, culture, nature, food and daily life of a city makes the journey more memorable. Tuguegarao is a place that has a bit of all these experiences, and thus is an interesting place to explore in northern Luzon.
