Safer and Easier Travel to Abra de Ilog

In Sitio Mamara, the unpaved road that runs alongside agricultural fields used to get muddy and dangerous during the rainy season, putting drivers in danger and making travel challenging. The DPWH Occidental Mindoro District Engineering Office has completed a road concreting project, which has given the locals, especially farmers and students, a safer and more reliable road network that guarantees easier mobility and continuous delivery of farm produce to markets.

District Engineer Junie A. Lupango reported to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, that the project is 0.773 kilometers long and includes a 5-meter-wide carriageway, 1-meter gravel shoulders on either side, a Reinforced Concrete Pipe Culvert (RCPC) cross drain, and stone masonry for added durability.

The new road not only supports the agricultural sector but also significantly cuts travel time from 5–10 minutes down to just 1–2 minutes to reach the national road, providing convenience and efficiency for the local community.
