Puerto Princesa, Binduyan Bridge

The Binduyan Bridge, which is on Puerto Princesa North Road in Barangay Binduyan, Puerto Princesa City, is being repaired by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Palawan 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO). The main goal of the project is to replace the damaged bridge abutments on both sides. This is seen as an important step in making the bridge safe and stable for people who use it every day and for people who live nearby.

District Engineer Amelia B. Fajardo wrote to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, about the rehabilitation works. She said that they included fixing the bridge’s concrete slope protection, doing earthworks, building the bridge, improving drainage, and building other structures that were needed. 

The bridge and the riverbanks around it were badly damaged by Typhoon Odette, so the rehabilitation had to happen. Residents were worried about safety during the rainy season. To fix these problems, the old slope protection was taken down, fixed, and extended to cover a larger area and be stronger. A new abutment was also built to help with this. This project not only makes the bridge stronger, but it also shows that DPWH is committed to providing long-lasting and dependable infrastructure solutions in Palawan.

History of Plaza Cuartel

In Puerto Princesa City, Plaza Cuartel is a peaceful garden that has a lot of history behind it. The Palawan Massacre happened here during World War II. On December 14, 1944, Japanese forces burned alive 150 American prisoners of war, leaving only 11 survivors to tell the story of what happened. The park is now a solemn war memorial, with a central marker that bears the names of those who died. It serves as a permanent reminder of the sacrifices made.
