Puerto Princesa City in Palawan is a destination where infrastructure, natural beauty, and history come together to shape both community life and visitor experiences.
From vital projects like the rehabilitation of the Binduyan Bridge, which strengthens connectivity and safety for residents, to serene escapes such as Talaudyong Beach with its calm waves and tropical charm, the city reflects a balance of progress and nature. At the same time, landmarks like Plaza Cuartel serve as poignant reminders of the past, offering a place of reflection and honoring the sacrifices of those who came before. Together, these highlights showcase Puerto Princesa not only as a hub of development but also as a city rich in culture, resilience, and timeless beauty.
Puerto Princesa, Binduyan Bridge
The Binduyan Bridge, which is on Puerto Princesa North Road in Barangay Binduyan, Puerto Princesa City, is being repaired by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Palawan 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO). The main goal of the project is to replace the damaged bridge abutments on both sides. This is seen as an important step in making the bridge safe and stable for people who use it every day and for people who live nearby.

District Engineer Amelia B. Fajardo wrote to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, about the rehabilitation works. She said that they included fixing the bridge’s concrete slope protection, doing earthworks, building the bridge, improving drainage, and building other structures that were needed.

The bridge and the riverbanks around it were badly damaged by Typhoon Odette, so the rehabilitation had to happen. Residents were worried about safety during the rainy season. To fix these problems, the old slope protection was taken down, fixed, and extended to cover a larger area and be stronger. A new abutment was also built to help with this. This project not only makes the bridge stronger, but it also shows that DPWH is committed to providing long-lasting and dependable infrastructure solutions in Palawan.
Talaudyong Beach

Talaudyong Beach is one of Puerto Princesa City’s best-kept secrets. It’s a peaceful place to escape, with calm waves and coconut trees that sway in the wind. At the beach, you can swim, build sandcastles, or just lie in a hammock and listen to the waves. The beach is a great place for people who want to get away from the crowds of tourists. It’s calm and beautiful.

It’s easy to get to Talaudyong Beach, and it has a relaxed vibe. You can enjoy its beauty without a boat. This beautiful beach is the best place to relax, spend time with family, or just soak up the sun. Bring some snacks, set up a beach mat, and enjoy the slow, tropical beat that makes Puerto Princesa’s beaches so special.
History of Plaza Cuartel
In Puerto Princesa City, Plaza Cuartel is a peaceful garden that has a lot of history behind it. The Palawan Massacre happened here during World War II. On December 14, 1944, Japanese forces burned alive 150 American prisoners of war, leaving only 11 survivors to tell the story of what happened. The park is now a solemn war memorial, with a central marker that bears the names of those who died. It serves as a permanent reminder of the sacrifices made.

Plaza Cuartel is a sad place, but it also gives people a chance to think quietly. People can honor the past and have a moment of peace while looking out over the sea. The shaded walkways, peaceful gardens, and informative markers all help with this. It is more than just a historical site; it is a moving place that makes you think about the cost of war and how memory can last.
Puerto Princesa not only serves the needs of residents but also enriches the experiences of visitors, showcasing Puerto Princesa as a community rooted in progress, blessed with natural wonders, and mindful of its historical legacy.
