On August 16, 2024, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) MIMAROPA Region held a crucial coordination meeting for its Public Information Officers (PIOs) and Regional Public Affairs and Information Staff (RPAIS). The meeting, which took place at the DPWH MIMAROPA regional office, was focused on addressing key issues and concerns to enhance public communication about the Region’s infrastructure programs, projects, and services.

Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, led the meeting and emphasized the vital role of the Public Information Office in supporting the Administration’s “Bagong Pilipinas” governance initiative. Director Pacanan remarked, “The Public Information Office plays a critical role in ensuring that stakeholders are well-informed about government projects that affect their daily lives. They act as the frontline and the first defense in project implementation.”

In his address, RD Pacanan reaffirmed his commitment to fully supporting the PIOs by providing them with the resources needed to produce reliable and informative content for the public.

The meeting addressed several important topics, including the prompt handling of feedback, compliance with policies and directives from both the Regional Office and the Stakeholders Relations Service (SRS) at the DPWH Central Office, and improvements to the photo and video presentations of the Region’s projects and programs. Key personnel also shared useful advice for enhancing multimedia presentations.

This coordination meeting highlighted the DPWH MIMAROPA Region’s commitment to effective communication and public engagement in its ongoing infrastructure development initiatives.
