Enhances Access and Safety in Sibuyan Island

A road concreting project along the Sibuyan Circumferential Road has been completed easier for residents and drivers on Sibuyan Island, Romblon to travel. Under the direction of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) Romblon District Engineering Office (DEO), to increase road reliability and community safety.

The project has a net length of 0.159 kilometers, with a highway that is 7.6 meters wide and 1.5 meters wide on both sides, Romblon District Engineer Elena M. Castilan told DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III. It is also strong with stone masonry and rubble concrete for drainage and slope protection.

The project includes white reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings and a tapered design for improved vehicle flow. And solar-powered LED roadway lighting to make the roads safer.

Through easier access and increased local business activity, the new road is expected to facilitate travel, improve driver safety, and support Sibuyan Island’s long-term development.
