The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) MIMAROPA Region has reiterated its dedication to supporting the Department of Education’s “Oplan Balik Eskwela” (OBE) program for the School Year 2024-2025. This initiative is designed to ensure quality education for both teachers and learners throughout the region.

To meet this goal, the District Engineering Offices of Southern Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, and Palawan 1st have effectively carried out outreach programs in various public schools located in remote and underserved areas within their territories. Nearly a thousand students from Sablayan National Comprehensive High School and Dapdap Cultural Elementary School in Occidental Mindoro, Balatasan Elementary School—Dacutan Extension and Upper Yunot Elementary School in Oriental Mindoro, as well as Camili Elementary School and Bagsik Elementary School in Romblon, have benefitted from these efforts.

Under the Oplan Balik Eskwela initiative, the outreach program concentrated on improving and maintaining school grounds. Additionally, essential school supplies, food, and health and hygiene kits were distributed to hundreds of students. By providing these vital resources, the program aims to motivate students to continue their education with renewed energy and commitment.

The joint efforts of the DPWH and DepEd demonstrate the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration in creating a solid foundation for a smooth, orderly, and successful start to the school year. This initiative reflects the DPWH’s commitment to supporting education and uplifting communities.

The program’s success highlights the critical need for adequate support and resources for students, particularly in remote and disadvantaged areas. By fostering a supportive learning environment and addressing students’ needs, the DPWH and DepEd are paving the way for a brighter future for the youth in the MIMAROPA Region.
